Nearly 10,000 Jobs Could Be Created from Investment by Six Textile Companies
Jakarta – A wave of new investment in the textile and textile product (TPT) sector is projected to create thousands of new job opportunities in Indonesia. Based on investment projects announced throughout 2025 until August 2026, six companies have the potential to generate approximately 9,000 to 9,800 new jobs.
Rizal Tanzil Rakhman, Secretary General of the Indonesian Garment and Textile Association (AGTI), assessed that new investment in the TPT sector will have a broader economic impact compared to mere factory construction. “Investment in the textile and garment industry does not just bring production facilities. This investment also creates jobs, increases exports, drives logistics, and fosters new economic activity around industrial areas,” Rizal said in Jakarta on 6 August 2026.
According to Rizal, the success in attracting investment is inseparable from the support of various ministries and regional governments in creating a conducive business climate. AGTI expressed appreciation to the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Finance including the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, as well as regional governments that continue to support the development of the national TPT industry.
“Synergy between the central government, regional governments, and business players needs to be continuously strengthened. With a competitive supply of raw materials and energy, skilled labour, ease of investment, export access, and supervision of illegal imports and unfair trade practices, the TPT industry has a great opportunity to continue growing and become a national job creation engine,” Rizal concluded.
In Brebes Regency, PT Xinhai Knitting Indonesia is projected to absorb around 6,000 workers through the construction of a modern textile factory aimed at the export market. Meanwhile, the development of an integrated textile manufacturing area in Subang Smartpolitan by PT Binkova Textiles Indonesia, PT Dafei Textile Indonesia, and PT Serendipity Fashion Indonesia is expected to absorb around 3,000 to 3,800 workers. Additionally, PT FHG Tekstil Indonesia in Demak Regency has already recruited around 600 local workers since commencing operations, while PT Citra Terus Makmur in Sumedang Regency has completed the expansion of its production facilities, though the company has not yet published the number of additional workers absorbed.
