Near the Airport, Wirolegi MBG Kitchen Ready to Distribute 3,000 Meals

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) has built a Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) kitchen facility in Wirolegi Village, Jember Regency, East Java, to support the accelerated distribution of nutritious food to the community. Its location near Notohadinegoro Airport is considered strategic for facilitating smooth logistics and operational services. The facility, part of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG), is designed as a production and distribution centre for food with a capacity of up to 3,000 portions per distribution cycle. This service covers areas with a maximum distribution time of around 30 minutes from the operational location to ensure food quality is maintained and distribution runs efficiently. Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that the ministry plays a role in preparing supporting facilities and infrastructure, particularly in areas not yet covered by private partnerships, including in Java and remote, frontier, and outermost regions (3T). In terms of location, the facility is about 10.1 kilometres or 20 minutes from Notohadinegoro Airport in Jember Regency. This proximity supports the smooth distribution of logistics and the mobility of nutritional fulfilment services. In addition to supporting community services, the construction of the Wirolegi MBG kitchen is projected to have an economic impact on local residents through the absorption of around 50 operational workers. The land for the facility is owned by the local government and is being utilised through a five-year loan scheme. The facility is equipped with various supporting facilities such as the main building, drinking water installation, wastewater treatment installation (IPAL), temporary waste collection site (TPS), and other operational support facilities. In the future, the facility’s management will be handed over to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to support the operational nutritional fulfilment services for the community.
