Ndiaye meets with Belo

DILI, East Timor (JP): Special Rapporteur of the United
Nations' Human Rights Commission on Extra-judicial, Summary or
Arbitrary Executions Bacre Waly Ndiaye, met twice with Bishop
Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo yesterday to discuss victims of the
1991 bloody incident in Dili.

He arrived in Dili on Thursday and has met with various
government and military officials of the province. His talks with
Belo, however, were unscheduled and the envoy refused to comment
on them.

Asked whether he was satisfied with the information he has
obtained so far, Ndiaye, who flew back to Jakarta yesterday,
answered "I have no comment". (yac/pwn)
