Ndarboy Genk Awarded Platinum Certification by Krumulo, Demonstrating Javanese Pop's National Market Dominance

The Indonesian music landscape is undergoing a significant shift. Mainstream genres no longer dominate the national stage. Regional music waves, particularly Javanese pop, have proven their strength by reaching audiences across the country.

Leading this movement, Bantul-based Yogyakarta musician Ndarboy Genk has cemented his status as a digital music industry icon. Through Krumulo, a dedicated Javanese pop imprint under Believe Artist Services Indonesia, Ndarboy has officially received a platinum certification for massive consumption across streaming platforms.

The award recognises two phenomenal works by Ndarboy Genk that have achieved exceptional listener numbers.

This success is not instantaneous. Over 15 years, Ndarboy Genk has consistently promoted Javanese pop. Through his production studio, Mabes Balker, he has produced personal works like ‘Lanang Tenan’ and actively collaborated with local talents, including the recent ‘Kicau Mania’ project with Yogyakarta hip-hop artist Banditoz Yaow 86.

‘Ndarboy Genk never imagined 15 years ago that his released works would be listened to and appreciated so widely,’ he said gratefully. He stressed that the Krumulo award is concrete proof that music created from the heart and professionally managed can positively impact regional musicians.

Ririe Cholid, Head of Artist Services Indonesia, echoed this sentiment, stating the award aims to further fuel Ndarboy Genk’s passion for creating Javanese pop music.
