Ndalem Pojok Kediri Site Holds Soekarno Ruwat Agung Ceremony
The Ndalem Pojok Site and the Association of National Identity Instructors (PIPJATBANG) held the Ruwat Agung Soekarno cultural ceremony. The event commemorated the moment the Proclaimer of Indonesian Independence was renamed from Koesno to Soekarno. The activity took place at the Soekarno Heritage Site, Ndalem Pojok, in Pojok Village, Wates District, Kediri Regency, on Sunday (14/6/2026). The event was attended by Brigadier General Langgeng Purnomo, Chairman of the PIPJATBANG Steering Council, members of the Kediri Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, police chiefs from the East Java Regional Police’s former Kediri Police Resort area, interfaith leaders, and local cultural figures. Organising committee chairman RM Kushartono explained that Ndalem Pojok holds a vital role in the history of the Father of the Nation. It was in this old house that the name Soekarno was bestowed by Raden Mas Mendung with the blessing of the great elder Raden Mas Panji Somohatmojo. ‘Through this Ruwat Agung, we aim to restore the character and mentality of the nation’s identity that has begun to fade. We hope to reawaken the spirit of Soekarno in the hearts of the younger generation to welcome Golden Indonesia 2045 and lead this nation as the Imam of World Peace,’ Kushartono stated. The series of events began with a National Purification Prayer by interfaith leaders, followed by a National Identity Parade carrying a Safety Tumpeng. The procession continued with the purification of a Soekarno statue, the inauguration of a signboard monument marking the name change from Koesno to Soekarno, the signing of a prasasti, and a compact theatrical performance of ‘Kembang Jagad’. The main speaker, Brigadier General Langgeng Purnomo, who holds the competency of Master Instructor of National Identity Activists based on a certificate from the National Professional Certification Agency and serves as Chairman of the PIPJATBANG Steering Council while currently serving as Head of the Human Resources Bureau of the Indonesian National Police, delivered a profound national message about the common thread linking National Identity with Bung Karno’s noble ideals to realise national sovereignty through ‘Bung Karno’s Tri Sakti’: being sovereign in politics, self-reliant in the economy, and having personality in culture. ‘We are currently in the midst of international geopolitical tug-of-war, where every country prioritises its national interests, including freedom from foreign influence. To realise political sovereignty free from foreign influence, the homework for the components of the Indonesian nation today is to be willing and able to engage in national mutual cooperation to first achieve economic self-reliance,’ Langgeng said. He added that this economic independence is now being implemented through President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita mission, which focuses on self-sufficiency in food, energy, water, technology, and downstreaming. However, the one-star general reminded that the main prerequisite for achieving economic independence through national mutual cooperation lies in the third point of Tri Sakti, namely the collective awareness to embody personality in culture. ‘We are facing the negative impacts of globalisation and the influence of capitalist culture, which unconsciously fertilises the ’khabitsah tree’ within us, namely human traits rooted in greed, envy, malice, and other diseases of the heart. If left unchecked, this social disease will devastate morals, law, culture, and even national security. The solution is to return to the true identity of the Indonesian nation,’ he asserted. Drawing philosophy from the song ‘Indonesia Raya’, Langgeng stressed that the key words are ‘Awaken and Build’, awaken the soul and build the body of the Indonesian Nation to build in all fields. According to him, building the soul means fortifying oneself from destructive foreign cultures and strengthening the spirit of mutual cooperation to support government programmes. ‘Returning to the nation’s identity is the main key. With a culture that has personality, an economy that is self-reliant through President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, and a sovereign politics, Indonesia will be ready to step forward as an eternal beacon and imam of world peace,’ Langgeng concluded.
