NDA Cadets in Tokyo Welcome Prabowo
The arrival of President Prabowo Subianto in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday evening (29/3), was not only greeted by the diaspora but also by Indonesian cadets currently studying at the National Defence Academy (NDA). Amid a warm atmosphere, the cadets stood neatly, displaying their pride as the young generation learning abroad.
For the cadets, the moment was more than just an ordinary meeting. There was a sense of respect and pride in being able to meet the head of state directly. Second Lieutenant (Technical) Farel Octandrian, an AAU 2025 cadet undergoing S1 education through a scholarship programme, described the experience as something rare.
“We are very proud and delighted to meet the President. This is a rare occurrence for us and an honour,” he stated, quoted from a press release by BPMI Setpres.
On that occasion, Farel also expressed appreciation for the continuity of the scholarship programme that brought him to Japan. He hoped the programme would not end with his generation.
“To the President, we want to thank you for your efforts in continuing this NDA scholarship. For the future, we hope this programme can continue to our younger siblings. Thank you, Sir,” he said.
Direct interaction was also felt by Second Lieutenant (N) Dhani Fathurrachman, who is studying earth and marine sciences. He revealed that the President engaged in dialogue and gave messages to the cadets.
“Of course, the President advised us to keep studying, stay motivated, and uphold Indonesia’s good name,” he added.
A similar sentiment was shared by Second Lieutenant (Air Force) Irsyad Farhan Mahendra from the army branch. He acknowledged that studying in Japan is not without challenges, but the experience has strengthened his determination to contribute to Indonesia.
“My hope is that whatever I learn here, I can apply it in Indonesia to advance the nation and country,” he said.
