NCPI and InvestHK Host 'Hong Kong Where Business Goes to Grow' to Strengthen Business in Asia
The Central Executive Board of Nawa Cita Pariwisata Indonesia (NCPI), together with InvestHK, held the ‘Hong Kong Where Business Goes to Grow’ event in Badung on Thursday (11/8). The gathering marked the fifth meeting between NCPI and Invest Hong Kong, with the aim of strengthening business relations between the two parties.
The event was attended by InvestHK Deputy Head of Consumer and Hospitality Angelica Leung and Assistant Manager of Business and Talent Attraction/Investment Promotion Cosmas Oktavianus Santosa. NCPI Chairman Kade Sutawa was accompanied by NCPI Advisor Jero Gede Witama, who also represents Aman Resort Group, NCPI Bali Chairman Agus Maha Usadha, Ketut Ngastawa, Wayne from Korea, Ussyana Dethan, and a representative from the Denpasar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).
Kade Sutawa explained that the presentations and discussions were expected to provide participants with insights into Hong Kong’s business ecosystem, including its market access advantages and the government support services offered by Invest Hong Kong. The meeting also sought to strengthen business cooperation between Hong Kong and Indonesia, foster strategic partnerships, and encourage Indonesian companies to use Hong Kong as a platform for regional expansion, brand development, and access to mainland China and international markets.
He noted that the initiative currently focuses on providing education to entrepreneurs who wish to open offices or businesses in Hong Kong. Invest Hong Kong is part of the Hong Kong government, meaning businesses can obtain many conveniences by operating there through their assistance. A Korean entrepreneur who has already invested in Bali expressed interest in investing in Hong Kong, as did a Balinese businessman with Russian clients. NCPI board members and other entrepreneurs with potential to establish networks in Hong Kong were also present.
Angelica Leung outlined the advantages and ease of investing in Hong Kong, highlighting significant opportunities in finance, hospitality, human resources, food and retail. She noted that Hong Kong’s position as a global logistics hub facilitates penetration of international and Chinese markets. Invest Hong Kong is the department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government responsible for foreign direct investment, with a vision to strengthen Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s leading international business location and a mission to attract and retain foreign direct investment vital to Hong Kong’s economic development.
The department applies core values of passion, integrity, professionalism, customer service, business friendliness, responsiveness, collaboration and innovation. It works with overseas and mainland Chinese entrepreneurs, SMEs and multinational corporations seeking to establish offices or expand existing businesses in Hong Kong, offering free advice and services to support companies from the planning stage through to launch and expansion.
Hong Kong also serves as a financial centre and family office hub, providing a strategic base for wealth management for ultra-high-net-worth individuals. Cosmas Oktavianus Santosa added that Hong Kong is the right choice for investment because it has its own system separate from mainland China’s government, offering greater flexibility. He expressed confidence in Hong Kong’s investment stability, supported by its own economic control, legal and financial systems. Hong Kong can serve as a connector and provide flexibility in managing global investment instruments, including ease of capital movement. Many large Chinese companies are also listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange, reinforcing the city’s position as a bridge between global capital and Asian growth. He expressed hope that Indonesian companies would gain peace of mind and certainty, that Hong Kong would remain stable, strengthen international relations, remain a base in Asia, and that their businesses would grow stronger in the global arena.
