NBK launches money transfers to Iraq

KUWAIT CITY: The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), the Gulf
emirate's largest bank, announced on Sunday that it has started
making money transfers to Iraq in US dollars or Iraqi dinars.

The service, the first of its kind since the 1990 Iraqi
invasion of Kuwait, is available throughout the bank's branches
in the emirate to almost all Iraq's main cities, NBK general
ganager of consumer banking Adel al-Majed said.

NBK launched the service to help companies and individuals
interested of operating business in the Iraqi market, Majed said.

"It also shows the bank's confidence in the promising future
of the Iraqi economy and its desire to render its assistance to
Iraq at this stage," Majed added.

Clients can receive the transfers from several banks currently
operating in Iraq. --AFP
