NBC Asia leases satellite

JAKARTA (JP): PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN) announced yesterday the lease of an extended C-band transporder on the Palapa C1 satellite to the Hong Kong-based NBC Asia Ltd., NBC's newly-established Asian affiliiate.

The agreement, signed recently, is an important step forward in NBC's plan to distribute its programs into the Asian market, according to a PSN press release here yesterday.

PSN said the Hughes HS 601 Palapa C1 satellite will provide Pan-Asian coverage and will be launched later this year by Arianespace to replace Palapa B2P. (vin)
