NBA to broadcast on the Internet
NEW YORK (AFP): The National Basketball Association (NBA) said on Monday it would begin live broadcasts of portions of its games over the Internet next month as part of an agreement with RealNetworks.
The announcement said the NBA would offer live "look-ins" for games in progress -- but not the broadcast of full matches -- as well as highlights and studio programming through its NBA.com site and Real.com.
NBA officials said they believed the agreement is the first by a professional sports league for live Internet programming. It will be offered through a monthly subscription to the Real.com GoldPass service at US$10 per month.
