Nazaruddin-Formed Party Focuses on Socialisation and Supports Prabowo's Programme Down to Village Level
Jakarta — The Central Leadership Council (DPP) of the Partai Rakyat Indonesia (PRI) held an iftar gathering combined with charity to hundreds of orphans and the destitute in the Tanah Abang area of Central Jakarta on Sunday, 8 March 2026. The event forms part of the party’s Ramadan social programme and aims to strengthen ties with the public. PRI Chairman Nazaruddin said the iftar and charitable giving were intended to share happiness with those in need and to build social harmony. ‘For today, the agenda is an iftar gathering and alms distribution; the aim is to share together and to build silaturahmi. We want everyone to feel the happiness,’ Nazaruddin told reporters. At the event, PRI hosted around 1,000 beneficiaries, comprising 800 orphans and 200 destitute people. In addition to that day’s activities, the party runs a Ramadan programme distributing thousands of iftar meal packages. Nazaruddin explained that during Ramadan the party prepares about 2,000 boxes of iftar meals daily for distribution to the public. PRI also channels nearly 20,000 aid packages to various orphanages and groups of the destitute. ‘Coincidentally, starting in Ramadan we provide 2,000 boxes daily for breaking the fast. Then there are nearly 20,000 packages distributed to orphanages and the needy,’ he said. He hopes the activities will bring blessings and reflect the party’s social concern for the wider community. ‘So that everything can be blessed and truly be a mercy from the Almighty.’ In addition to its social work, Nazaruddin also reaffirmed PRI’s commitment to supporting various government programmes, particularly President Prabowo Subianto’s. He said the party would focus on socialising and supporting government initiatives down to the village level. Among the programmes of interest are strengthening welfare, education, and national development projects. ‘What matters is that we first support all of Mr Prabowo’s programmes, then repair all infrastructure down to the village level,’ Nazaruddin said. He noted that PRI also targets substantial political support in the Jakarta region (DKI Jakarta), with a target of around 50 percent of the vote.
