Navy seeks missing boat
JAKARTA: The navy is searching for a boat reported missing with 12 people on board near Mudu Island in the Malacca Straits recently.
Navy spokesman Col. Totok M.K. Laksito said yesterday that the vessel went missing during bad weather.
The operation was part of the navy's routine patrol, headed by Rear Adm. Dalam Sinuraya of the Naval Fleet for the Western Region.
Totok said the boat was on its way from Singapore to Tanjung Batu Kundur, Sumatra when it was reported missing.
A day after the incident, one body was found on Karimun Besar Island and two others on Asm Island. It is yet to be determined if they were among the missing boat's passengers. (prs)
