Navy looks for new recruits

SURABAYA, East Java: The Indonesian Navy is recruiting men and women who want to become naval sergeants and enlisted personnel.

Information chief of the Navy's eastern fleet, Lt. Col. Eddy Irawan, said Tuesday that those who want to apply must be between 18 and 22 years old and must not wear glasses.

Male applicants should be at least 160 centimeters tall and female applicants at least 155 centimeters tall.

Those applying for the position of sergeant must present a high school diploma and those applying as enlisted personnel a junior high school diploma.

Enrollment starts on Dec. 29 and ends on May 5 next year. (mds)
