Navy impounds smuggler's boats

SURABAYA, East Java: The Eastern Regional Navy Patrol
impounded 11 motorized boats of suspected smugglers in Tarakan
waters off East Kalimantan,Antara reported yesterday.

"The boats and the smuggled goods have been reported to the
Tarakan District Court," Regional Navy spokesman Lt. Col. Eddy
Irawan said. He did not mention where the boats had come from.

Eddy said that of the impounded boats, three have been found
carrying 108 tons of rattan without proper documents, while four
other boats were carrying processed timber.(swe)
