Navy hospital fire contained

JAKARTA (JP): A small fire swept the employees' cooperative office at Mintohardjo Navy Hospital, on Jl. Bendungan Hilir, Central Jakarta, on Friday.

An official of the hospital told The Jakarta Post that the fire started at 5:30 a.m., but he did not know the cause.

A witness, Is Wahyu Purnomo, said she saw thick smoke coming from the back part of the hospital.

She said four fire engines came to the location quickly and extinguished the fire right away.

Another witness, a bemo (three-wheeled motorized vehicle) driver said he saw the fire.

The fire brigade declined to release any information about the fire until reports were made. (05)
