Navy chief installs 299 young officers
SURABAYA: Navy chief Admiral Bernard Kent Sondakh swore in on Tuesday 299 new Navy officers who just completed a one-year training course at the Navy Education Center in Surabaya, East Java.
Of the 299 young officers, 59 belong to the Sailor Corps, 62 to the Technical Corps, 36 to the Electronic Corps, 25 to the Supply Corps, 84 to the Marine Corps, seven to the Health Corps and 26 to the Special Corps. At least 28 of the officers are women.
Saying that officers play a central and strategic role in the Navy, Sondakh urged the new graduates to contribute positively to the force. --Antara
