Naval parade in Surabaya

SURABAYA, East Java: To celebrate its 52nd anniversary, the
Indonesian Navy held a big parade here Sunday.

Some 5,224 personnel participated in the parade which also
featured models of battleships and the Jalesveva Jayamahe
Monument.

"Through such parades, the Navy strengthens its unity with the
people of Surabaya," said parade commander, Col. Moekhlas Sidik,
as quoted by Antara.

The parade only covered a distance of 4.5 kilometers to
prevent it from disrupting traffic. (mds)
