Natuna Regency urges residents to control portions during Eid
The Head of the Natuna Regency Health Office, Hikmat Aliansyah, confirmed from Bintan on Friday that excessive food consumption during Eid could lead to health problems, ranging from digestive issues to increases in blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure levels. According to him, the public should be more prudent in managing their food intake, particularly when consuming typical Eid dishes that are generally high in fat and sugar. “We urge the public to maintain their health during the Eid holiday by paying attention to what they consume and ensuring adequate rest,” he stated. He added that, in addition to controlling portion sizes, the public should maintain regular eating schedules and engage in light physical activities, such as walking, to preserve bodily fitness. For individuals with a history of certain diseases, such as diabetes or hypertension, he reminded them to be more selective in choosing foods and to continue taking medication as prescribed by medical personnel. He also assured the public not to worry about needing healthcare services, as Community Health Centres (Puskesmas) and the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) will continue to operate during the Eid holiday. “We also urge the public to immediately seek examination at the nearest health facility if they experience any health complaints,” he said.
