Natuna Regency installs wildfire warning signs at high-risk points
Natuna (ANTARA) - The Natuna Regency Government in Riau Islands Province has installed early warning signs for forest and land fires (karhutla) at several high-risk points to suppress fire potential while enhancing public awareness of the dangers of karhutla.
The Head of the Natuna Regency Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Raja Darmika, confirmed from Natuna on Sunday, stated that the installation of these signs has been carried out at four strategic locations.
The presence of these signs is expected to serve as a reminder and warning to the public to be more cautious in their activities, particularly those that could trigger fires.
“The installation was carried out on 17 April at Teluk Buton, the Padang Angus Binjai intersection, the Gunung Putri–Klarek area, and Klarek Gunung Putri. These locations were selected based on their vulnerability to fire incidents,” she said.
Currently, an active command post is located in Bungaran Batubi Subdistrict, while other high-risk points in Bungaran Tengah, Bungaran Selatan, Bungaran Timur Laut, and Bungaran Utara Subdistricts are awaiting budget adjustments.
Each command post is manned by combined personnel from relevant local government units, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police, and village governments.
These efforts are deemed important given that in recent days, fire hotspots have continuously emerged alternately in various Natuna regions.
