The Natuna Regency Government in the Riau Islands is targeting export opportunities for the region’s leading products to China as part of efforts to expand its market while increasing the economic value of commodities produced by local communities.

Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan said on Sunday that the Natuna Regency Government is currently building cooperation with regencies and cities in China. The flagship products for export include live fish, particularly grouper, while other products include coconut seeds.

She explained that she had visited China and promoted products from the border region to entrepreneurs there at the end of July 2026, with one of the venues being an Indonesian restaurant.

“Because this is the first time an Indonesian culinary restaurant has opened in that area, we took the opportunity to promote products from Natuna,” she said.

To support the plan, the Natuna Regency Government has established an Agency for Issuing Certificates of Origin (IPSKA). The presence of IPSKA makes it easier for business operators to process export documents, particularly Certificates of Origin (SKA), so that the process of shipping products to overseas markets can be carried out more efficiently.

In addition to administrative aspects, the regional government is also continuing to encourage the readiness of supporting infrastructure. One of these is through the revitalisation of Selat Lampa Port, which is projected to become one of the entry and exit points for goods from Natuna to international markets.

“We are asking the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to help provide recommendations for inter-regional cooperation (overseas) and to facilitate our communication with ministries or agencies so that all issues can be resolved,” she said.
