The Food Security and Agriculture Office (DKPP) of Natuna Regency, Riau Islands, is monitoring and testing food materials at SPPG to ensure raw ingredients are safe, of good quality, and meet standards before being processed into nutritious meals.

Head of the Food Security Division at DKPP Natuna Regency, Akmal Dusty, confirmed on Wednesday that the activity is carried out every month. The most recent inspections took place on 12–13 August 2026 at SPPG Bunguran Batubi and SPPG Bunguran Utara.

The testing involved samples of fresh food of plant origin (PSAT). At SPPG Bunguran Batubi, officers examined three PSAT samples: long beans, red chillies, and watermelon. The results showed all samples were negative for pesticide residues.

Meanwhile, monitoring at SPPG Bunguran Utara covered five types of PSAT: carrots, cabbage, long beans, oranges, and shallots.

“The test results showed that carrots, cabbage, long beans, and oranges were negative for pesticide residues. The shallots were also negative for formalin content,” he said.

In addition to PSAT, officers tested three chicken meat samples to detect formalin, borax, and to ensure the meat did not come from carcasses.

The examination was conducted using a rapid chemical test method with a Rapid Test Kit. Testing was carried out directly at the SPPG locations before the raw materials were processed into food.

He explained that similar activities also target all SPPG facilities already operating in Natuna Regency.

“As a result, all chicken meat samples were declared negative for formalin, negative for borax, and negative for carcass,” said Akmal.
