Natuna Regency Government, in the Riau Islands Province, distributed the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto’s donated sacrificial cow to Pulau Laut sub-district, one of Indonesia’s outermost islands. Head of the Natuna Regency Office of Food Security and Agriculture (DKPP), Wan Syazali, in Natuna, on Wednesday said the cow departed on Wednesday morning using a pompong boat rented specifically to transport livestock. He said the sacrificial cow is of Limousin breed with a weight of 879.46 kilograms and confirmed to be healthy. The animal is a local cow developed by farmers in Bunguran Timur district. ‘Today we are distributing it to Pulau Laut. The cow will be slaughtered at Al Ihyak Mosque, Air Payang Village,’ Wan Syazali said. He explained that Natuna’s DKPP also oversaw the shipping process from Teluk Buton Port to Pulau Laut Port. The sea voyage is expected to take about 4 hours and 30 minutes. During unloading, residents around the port were asked to keep their distance to prevent the cow from becoming stressed. He explained that Natuna’s DKPP has stationed one paramedic on Pulau Laut. In addition, one quarantine paramedic from the Natuna Service Unit, the Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Center (BKHIT) of the Riau Islands, has been deployed to Pulau Laut to monitor the cow’s condition up to three days before the Eid al-Adha sacrifice. The aim is to ensure the cow does not become stressed and remains healthy until the day of sacrifice. ‘The cow arrived on Pulau Laut at around 14:30 Western Indonesia Time,’ he said.
