Natuna Government Trains 30 SPPG Volunteers in Fire Fighting

The Natuna Regency Government (Pemkab Natuna), Riau Islands Province, has provided fire-fighting training to 30 volunteers from the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) to enhance preparedness and capability in facing potential fires, particularly in kitchen environments. Head of the Prevention Division of the Natuna Regency Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat) Beni Suparta confirmed on Tuesday that the activity was conducted at the South Bunguran SPPG on Tuesday. During the session, volunteers serving at the SPPG were equipped with basic knowledge and skills on how to extinguish fires using simple fire extinguishers (APAS) and light fire extinguishers (APAR). This material was deemed important for the volunteers to understand because kitchen areas carry a fairly high fire risk, whether due to gas leaks, improper use of stoves, or the high level of daily cooking activity. According to him, similar educational and training activities are continuously carried out by the Natuna Disdamkarmat. These activities, he said, target various community groups, especially in educational units. “This is an effort to create collective protection against fire disasters,” he stated. Through this activity, his party hopes the volunteers can become an extension of the government in increasing public awareness of the importance of fire prevention.
