Natuna Government Provides Heart Specialist for Free Health Check-ups in Sedanau
The Natuna Regency Government, Riau Islands Province, has provided a cardiologist during the Free Health Check (CKG) programme for residents of Sedanau Island, in an effort to improve access to services for those living on the buffer island. Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan stated on Thursday that the health examination activity was centred at the Bunguran Barat District Office, targeting residents in need of medical services. According to her, in addition to the heart specialist, the team from the Natuna Regional General Hospital (RSUD) also included specialists in internal medicine, surgery, and obstetrics and gynaecology. “We brought these doctors from RSUD Natuna to conduct health examinations for the people of Sedanau,” she said. She expressed hope that the presence of specialist doctors on Sedanau Island would make it easier for residents to obtain health services without having to travel to the regency capital. The CKG programme is also part of the local government’s efforts to increase early detection of various diseases, particularly non-communicable diseases that require early treatment. In addition to providing health examinations, medical personnel also educated the public on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and undergoing regular health check-ups. “We hope the community will take advantage of this opportunity to have their health checked, so that if any health problems are found, they can be treated immediately,” she said. Meanwhile, Head of the Natuna District Health Office Hikmat Aliansyah noted that a community health centre (Puskesmas) is already available in Sedanau. Residents can utilise this facility for health examinations, and if further treatment is required, they will be referred to RSUD Natuna. “A first-level health facility is also already available in Sedanau,” he said.
