The Natuna Regency Government in the Riau Islands Province has held a Free Health Check-up (CKG) for residents of Selaut Village, one of the remote areas in the border region. Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan stated on Saturday that the activity is part of the local government’s efforts to improve access to healthcare services for the community. The event was centred at SD Negeri 007 Selaut and coincided with the Regent’s working visit to the village on Saturday. Selaut is an island village in West Bunguran District, geographically separated from the capital of Natuna Regency and the district capital. This geographical condition makes the village one of the areas requiring proactive outreach services from the government, including in the health sector. “This CKG is expected to help the community understand their health conditions early, so that treatment can be carried out more quickly if health problems are found,” she said. Meanwhile, the Head of the Natuna Regency Health Office, Hikmat Aliansyah, explained that Selaut Village has an Auxiliary Community Health Centre (Pustu), but it is staffed by a midwife rather than a doctor. The activity involved one general practitioner and several nurses. The examination services provided ranged from blood pressure checks and blood sugar level tests to health consultations. “We brought one doctor and several nurses to the activity,” he said. In addition to providing examination services, health workers also educated the community on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and undergoing regular health check-ups. The Natuna Regency Government is committed to continuously delivering various health programmes that reach communities in remote and border areas as part of efforts to improve public health quality. “We often conduct CKG during the regent’s visits and on certain occasions,” he added.
