NATO Troops in Estonia to Increase to 1,200 by 2027

NATO forces in Estonia are set to increase to 1,200 personnel by 2027, according to Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur. The reinforcement will include an additional contingent of approximately 300 troops. Pevkur stated that British forces would bring long-range drones as part of the deployment, with the shipment of equipment and ammunition scheduled to begin in 2026. A military exercise involving the British Army’s 4th Brigade in Estonia is also planned for 2027. The Kremlin has repeatedly highlighted the heightened activity of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation near Russia’s western borders, asserting that while Russia poses no threat to any country, it will not ignore actions that could potentially endanger its national interests.
