Nation's Echo Party Proposes 0% Parliamentary Threshold
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Nation’s Echo Party wants the parliamentary threshold to be 0% and its regulations to be set through the Election Bill (RUU Pemilu).
“What Mr Yusril stated is actually 0%, because the threshold of 13 seats or, if not meeting 13 seats, then a joint faction must be formed,” said the General Chairman of the Nation’s Echo Party, Ahmad Rofiq, to Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026).
Rofiq stated that from the beginning, the Nation’s Echo Party has referred to the Constitutional Court (MK) decision.
They also propose that the new revision of the Election Law sets the parliamentary threshold at 0% and shifts it to a faction threshold with a large number.
“For example, a party can form its own faction if it meets 10% of the total seats,” he said.
According to him, this proposal aligns with the spirit of limiting the number of factions in the DPR.
With a limited number of factions, the legislative decision-making process is believed to become far more effective.
“The Nation’s Echo reminds the DPR RI today, which is drafting the law, to think clearly and return to the constitution. Do not circumvent its authority by claiming democracy while ignoring the constitution,” he emphasised.
“For example, what is used as a reference is actually how many commissions there are in the DPR. That is now regulated in the standing orders; it should be regulated in the Law,” Yusril proposed in Cawang, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
