National Zikir and Prayer Event at Monas Open to Public
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar has said that the National Zikr and Prayer gathering to be held at Monas Square, Jakarta, on Saturday, 1 August 2026 will be open to the public, and he has invited people to come and enliven the event.
“Let us welcome the Independence Month of the Republic of Indonesia by attending the National Zikr and Prayer together with Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf and figures from across the faiths at Monas Square on Saturday, 1 August 2026,” the minister said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The event is open to the public and will run from 17.00 to 21.30 WIB as part of efforts to welcome the Independence Month of the Republic of Indonesia.
Members of the public may begin entering the event area from 15.00 WIB through the security doors provided on the northern and southern sides of Monas. Those unable to enter the main area can still follow the entire programme via LED screens placed around the outer areas.
“Hundreds of toilets are also available, as well as ablution areas with some 1,000–1,500 taps for the comfort of all attendees,” said Kamaruddin.
The public is advised to wear white clothing, bring practical prayer equipment, and not carry too many belongings.
Participants are also urged not to bring babies or toddlers, and are prohibited from bringing sharp objects, firearms, fireworks or other dangerous items into the event area.
Interfaith prayers will be led by religious figures representing Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs hopes the National Zikr and Prayer gathering will become a moment of togetherness for all elements of the nation in welcoming Indonesia’s Independence Month.
The event is also expected to strengthen brotherhood among religious communities and the spirit of mutual cooperation in building an Indonesia that is sovereign, just and prosperous.
