National Women's Forum: PIM Encourages Empowered and Independent Women
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairperson of Perempuan Indonesia Maju (PIM), Lana T. Koentjoro, stated that women today are no longer merely objects of development but have become strategic partners of the state in determining the direction of Indonesia’s progress. “We want Indonesian women to become stronger, empowered, independent, and capable of producing real solutions within society. Therefore, this forum is directed towards producing strategic recommendations that can serve as constructive input for the government in addressing various national issues,” said Lana T. Koentjoro at the National Forum of Indonesian Women titled “Maintaining National Resilience,” in Jakarta on Wednesday. She emphasised that the National Forum of Indonesian Women is not just a ceremonial agenda but a collective movement to unite the strength of Indonesian women in facing increasingly complex national challenges. “This event is realised through collaboration between Perempuan Indonesia Maju and the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Defence, Bank Indonesia, OJK, the private sector, as well as support from women’s organisations such as Kowani and PIMTI. This demonstrates that Indonesian women possess great strength when acting together,” said Lana. “Indonesian women must be present as a unifying force for the nation, guardians of social harmony, and drivers of change. This forum is not only a space for discussion but a space for consolidating ideas, collaboration, and real action by Indonesian women for the nation,” said Lana T. Koentjoro. In agreement, Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi hopes that the National Women’s Forum can become a momentum to strengthen women’s empowerment. “Empowered women are not an option but a necessity. Gender equality is not mere discourse but the foundation of development. National resilience begins from the family, and women are the key,” said Arifah Fauzi.
