National Transportation Day: Ride Public Transport in Jakarta for Just Rp 1, What Else?

Commemorating National Transportation Day, which falls today, Friday (24/4/2026), the public can ride public transport in Jakarta for just Rp 1. This policy is provided by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and applies to Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta. “Happy National Transportation Day on 24 April. We are welcoming it by providing facilities for ease or free rides,” said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung in a video post on his personal Instagram account, quoted Friday (24/4/2026). The DKI Provincial Government hopes the public will take advantage of the opportunity to directly experience the available public transport services, so that in the future more residents switch to mass transit. This step is also expected to contribute to reducing congestion and curbing air pollution levels in Jakarta, which remain major urban challenges. Meanwhile, from an operational perspective, the Head of Communications and CSR at Transjakarta, Ayu Wardhani, explained that although the service is free, the system will still record user journeys with a symbolic fare of Rp 1. Users are still required to tap their cards or use the app when using the service. “Through the Rp 1 fare, we want to provide convenience while encouraging more residents to switch to public transport as an efficient and sustainable mobility choice,” said Ayu.
