REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG - The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho revealed that the traffic situation remains under control following the implementation of national one-way traffic engineering at KM 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Road, Semarang, Central Java, on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

Although there is density, the volume of vehicle traffic can still be controlled based on real-time technology monitoring and traffic counting.

“Up to now, the traffic conditions are indeed quite dense, in line with predictions that 24 March 2026 is the peak of the return flow. However, various traffic management scenarios have been prepared and implemented,” said the Traffic Corps Chief.

The day before, police units in Central Java had first taken anticipatory steps by applying a local one-way system on the toll road from KM 459 Salatiga Toll to KM 414 Kalikangkung Toll, Central Java.

This measure was continued by the National Police Traffic Corps with the phased one-way scheme or ‘Precise Segment One Way’ from Kilometre 263 Pejagan Toll to kilometre 70 Cikampek. Subsequently, from kilometre 70 to kilometre 55 and to kilometre 36, two-lane contraflow has been prepared to alleviate density from East Java and Central Java directions.

“Based on field evaluation and analysis, an extension of the return flow one-way from kilometre 459 to kilometre 414 Kalikangkung has also been carried out,” he said.

Arterial Route Security

In addition to toll roads, security measures are also being implemented on arterial roads and national routes. All police units in various regions, including the Pantura route, have been put on alert to anticipate the impact of traffic engineering and regulate vehicle movements.

“All police units in areas such as Banyumas, Brebes, to the Pantura route have been put on alert to anticipate the impact of toll road traffic engineering. Agglomeration movements and visits to tourist spots are still quite high, thus becoming a focus in security,” said the Traffic Corps Chief.

The National Police reminds the public to manage their return journey times to avoid density at the peak flow. The work from anywhere (WFA) policy is hoped to be utilised to distribute travel times more evenly.

In addition, operational restrictions on three-axle vehicles remain in place. The National Police urges logistics business owners to comply with these regulations to maintain smooth return flow. Enforcement against violations has also been carried out in the field.

“The government also urges the public to utilise the work from anywhere policy to ease mudik and return flow density. In addition, operational restrictions on three-axle vehicles are also being enforced,” said Inspector General of Police Agus Suryo.

The Traffic Corps urges logistics business owners to comply with these regulations. Officers have taken action against violating vehicles to prioritise the smoothness and safety of return travellers.
