National Shopping Programme Transactions Exceed Target of Rp 172 Trillion
Trade Minister Budi Santoso recorded combined transactions from the national shopping programme in the first quarter of 2026 reaching Rp 184.02 trillion.
“Exceeding the set target of Rp 172.38 trillion,” Budi stated in a written release on Sunday, 12 April 2026.
According to Budi, the transaction achievement demonstrates the cooperation between the government and business actors in creating effective stimulus for public consumption, particularly during Ramadan and Idul Fitri.
The transaction total combines two national shopping programmes: Friday Mubarak and Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA) Lebaran 2026.
Friday Mubarak, initiated by the Indonesia Retail Entrepreneurs Association or Aprindo, recorded transactions of Rp 129.12 trillion, or 8.5 percent above target. This shopping programme, held from 11 February to 31 March 2026, involved around 200 retail brands, 11 million market traders, 414 shopping centres, and 13,450 traditional markets across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA) Lebaran 2026, initiated by the Indonesia Retailers and Shopping Centre Tenants Association or Hippindo, recorded transactions worth Rp 54.9 trillion, or 2.8 percent above target.
This programme, held from 6 to 30 March 2026, involved around 800 brands, 80,000 retail outlets, and 400 shopping centres spread across 24 provinces.
According to Budi, the transaction achievement proves the role of shopping programmes as strategic instruments in maintaining national economic growth, particularly through strengthening household consumption.
Budi stated that the first-quarter performance serves as an important foundation for maintaining the sustainability of domestic consumption throughout the year. In line with the transaction achievement, Budi announced the number of public visits to shopping centres.
Data from the Indonesia Shopping Centre Managers Association or APPBI recorded public visits to shopping centres during this year’s Ramadan and Idul Fitri increasing by up to 12 percent compared to the same period last year. Consumption was dominated by food and beverage categories and entertainment.
According to Budi, the increase in visits signals recovery and strengthening of the national retail sector. Budi believes this trend will continue, with projections for first-quarter visit growth this year estimated to remain above 10 percent annually.
Throughout this year, Budi stated that the government, together with business associations, is preparing strategic shopping programmes. “This is our strategic effort in maintaining public purchasing power while serving as the main catalyst for national retail trade sector growth,” he said.
The national shopping programme initiated by Hippindo includes BINA Holiday in June–July 2026, BINA HBD Indonesia in August 2026, and BINA Indonesia Great Sale in December 2026.
Additionally, Aprindo will hold shopping programmes in the form of Holiday Sale in June 2026, Merdeka Madness in August 2026, and Every Purchase is Cheap (EPIC) Sale in December 2026.
APPBI will present the national shopping programme Indonesia Shopping Festival in August 2026.
