National Shopping Programme for Q1 2026 Reaches Rp184 Trillion
Trade Minister Budi Santoso announced that the National Shopping Programme for the First Quarter of 2026 recorded transactions of Rp184.02 trillion, exceeding the set target of Rp172.38 trillion. In a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, Budi said this success proves that synergy between the government and business actors can create effective stimulus for public consumption. “Overall, the realisation of the National Shopping Programme for the First Quarter of 2026 reached Rp184.02 trillion, surpassing the target set at Rp172.38 trillion,” Budi stated. The National Shopping Programme consists of Friday Mubarak and Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA) Lebaran. Friday Mubarak, organised by the Indonesia Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo), successfully recorded transactions of Rp129.12 trillion, or 8.5 percent above target. This activity was held from 11 February to 31 March 2026, involving around 200 retail brands, 11 million market traders, 414 shopping centres, and 13,450 people’s markets across Indonesia. Meanwhile, BINA Lebaran by the Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Centre Tenants Association (Hippindo) also contributed positively with total transactions reaching Rp54.9 trillion, or 2.8 percent above target. This programme was implemented from 6 to 30 March 2026, involving around 800 brands, 80,000 retail outlets, and 400 shopping centres spread across 24 provinces in Indonesia. “The achievements in the First Quarter become an important foundation for maintaining the sustainability of domestic consumption throughout 2026,” he said. In line with transaction achievements, the trend of public visits to shopping centres also shows a positive trend. The Indonesia Shopping Centre Managers Association (APPBI) recorded that during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/Eid 2026 holiday period, public visits to shopping centres increased by up to 12 percent compared to the same period the previous year. Consumption was dominated by food and beverage categories, as well as the entertainment sector. “The government is optimistic that this trend will continue with projections for visitor growth in Q1-2026 estimated to remain above 10 percent year-on-year,” he explained. The government ensures continued encouragement of collaboration with modern retail; shopping centres; and business actors, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to sustainably strengthen the domestic trade ecosystem.
