Jakarta (ANTARA) — Bank Syariah Nasional (BSN) is reinforcing its commitment to bolstering the national sharia financial ecosystem through the strengthening of Sharia Interbank Money Market services (SiPA). This strategic step was formalised through a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement between Bank BSN, BCA Syariah, and Bank Aladin Syariah, held in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026). The event was attended by key stakeholders, including the leadership of Bank BSN, BCA Syariah, and Bank Aladin Syariah, as well as the Head of the Sharia Economy and Finance Department at Bank Indonesia, Dadang Muljawan. The President Director of Bank BSN, Alex Sofjan Noor, emphasised that the implementation of SiPA instruments is not merely a liquidity transaction but a concrete step to enhance efficiency and stability in the industry. “Amid great potential, our current challenge is how to accelerate the realisation of those opportunities. The implementation of SiPA is highly relevant as an effort to strengthen the overall stability and efficiency of the sharia financial industry,” Alex stated in his speech. As an entity born from the spin-off of Bank Tabungan Negara’s Sharia Business Unit (BTN Syariah), Bank BSN has now positioned itself as a key player in the industry. According to company data, Bank BSN is recorded as Indonesia’s second-largest sharia bank with total assets reaching Rp72.9 trillion. BSN’s presence at the end of 2025, with a network covering 37 branches and 82 sub-branches, forms the foundation for the company to continue driving national sharia financial growth with principles of prudence and strict compliance. Addressing Literacy Challenges Bank BSN highlights the urgency of this collaboration by examining the current objective conditions of the industry. Although Indonesia is the country with the world’s largest Muslim population, the sharia banking market share remains stagnant at around 7 to 8 percent. Additionally, the sharia financial literacy rate stands at 43 percent, with inclusion levels still relatively low at around 13 percent. “This indicates that the potential for sharia financial development is still very large and requires joint efforts from all industry players to optimise it,” Alex added. Through the strengthening of SiPA services, Bank BSN is optimistic about contributing to creating a more modern, liquid, and resilient sharia financial system. “This cooperation is expected to become a strong foundation in building inter-sharia bank trust as well as enhancing the industry’s competitiveness at both national and global levels,” Alex concluded.
