REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI - The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving digital transformation was the main focus at the National Seminar on Technology and Informatics Innovation, organised by the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics (FTI) at Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) at the BSI Convention Center, Kaliabang, Bekasi, on Thursday (9/4/2026).

In this forum, academic from IPB University, Karlisa Priandana, who served as a speaker, affirmed that developments in generative AI are capable of accelerating various innovation processes in Indonesia. Karlisa explained that the current development of AI technology is progressing very rapidly and has a significant impact on various sectors.

“Generative AI is now developing very massively, and there are many tools that we can utilise. This can certainly act as a catalyst for development and drive digital transformation in Indonesia. What previously took a long time can now be accelerated, including in the process of finding ideas and new innovations,” he said.

However, he also highlighted several challenges in building an inclusive digital ecosystem in Indonesia, particularly regarding access disparities and the readiness of human resources.

“If internet access is not yet evenly distributed, then access to technology like generative AI is also not evenly distributed. In addition, we still lack digital talent. Therefore, major efforts are needed to prepare human resources who are not only able to use technology but also capable of creating new innovations,” he stated.

Karlisa emphasised that collaboration is key to overcoming these challenges, particularly between academia, government, and industry. He noted that each party has a strategic role in building a sustainable technology ecosystem.

As a Creative Digital Campus and the organiser of this seminar, UBSI reflects its commitment to promoting the development of digital talent in Indonesia. Karlisa also appreciated UBSI’s contribution to producing superior human resources in the field of informatics.

“UBSI plays an important role as an educational institution focused on informatics. With its extensive campus network, UBSI is expected to increase the number of digital talents while expanding access to technology education to various regions, including through more open and accessible learning platforms,” said Karlisa.
