National salvation?
National salvation?
From Koran Tempo
As a citizen who is still optimistic that Indonesia's present
conditions will improve, I am sure the nation needs model leaders
who listen to public aspirations as a precondition.
Our national leadership has come out of what was once called
the central axis formed by politicians, who are now talking about
a "save the nation forum". Before any new forum is set up, we
must ask the question: Have they proven the "good intentions" of
this older axis?
The public is aware of politicians who argue that prevailing
conditions are deteriorating, so that they, the same people once
promising to save the country, can it save again from a sense of
national crisis.
Are such campaigns meant to secure new seats or maintain
existing ones? Before any new group is created, these politicians
should save themselves by learning from past experience. Proving
what they have promised is more important than forming a new
forum, which is no solution at all.
