National Road in Aceh Blocked by Landslide, Traffic Temporarily Disrupted
JAKARTA - The section of the National Road in Pameu, Central Aceh Regency - Geumpang in Pidie Regency, Aceh Province, was covered by a landslide on Wednesday (22/04/2026). As a result, vehicle traffic access on that route is temporarily impassable. The Ministry of Public Works (PU) stated that the landslide occurred due to high-intensity rainfall over the past few days. Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo said that his side is moving quickly to address the impact of the landslide. βThe handling is being carried out quickly with a focus on evacuating materials, deploying heavy equipment, and ensuring that the main transportation route can function again as soon as possible,β said Dody, quoted on Thursday (23/04/2026). The Ministry of Public Works through the Aceh National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) has deployed a team and several heavy equipment units to the incident site. The equipment deployed includes three excavator units, one bulldozer unit, and three dump truck units. In addition, officers are also securing the area and managing traffic around the location to ensure the safety of road users. Based on preliminary monitoring results, the location still has the potential for follow-up landslides, especially if rain falls again. The public is urged to increase vigilance and temporarily avoid passing through that route until conditions are declared safe. The Ministry of Public Works stated that it continues to coordinate with local government and related agencies to accelerate handling in the field. The government also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the stability and safety of the national road network, especially in disaster emergency conditions.
