National PRR Task Force Inspects Disaster-Affected Sites in West Pasaman
The National Task Force for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) following the Sumatra natural disaster conducted an inspection of several affected locations in Talamau, West Pasaman Regency, on Wednesday.
The Head of the PRR Supervision Team, Brigadier General Pol. Yopie Indra Sepang, explained that the visit aimed to monitor and evaluate activities carried out by the local government, so that any obstacles encountered could be resolved jointly.
He appreciated the swift action of the West Pasaman Regency Government, which has prepared an alternative road from Jembatan Panjang to Bangkok in Talamau District.
“We have seen several locations. One of the obstacles we encountered is the problem with rivers and roads,” he said.
He noted that the road conditions are indeed hazardous, such as in Polongan Anam. Nevertheless, the West Pasaman Regency Government has also sought a solution by constructing an alternative road.
Meanwhile, the handling of Polongan Anam is sourced from the West Sumatra Provincial Government budget, valued at approximately IDR 12 billion, spread across five damage points and is currently still in the tender process.
In addition to inspecting Polongan Anam and the alternative road, the delegation also reviewed the handling of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM), the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) at Jembatan Panjang, and the Aia Gadang Bridge.
West Pasaman Regent Yulianto expressed gratitude for the central government’s attention through the National Task Force, which came directly to see the conditions on the ground.
“We express our thanks for the central government’s attention. The impact of the disaster some time ago was quite extreme, and damage still has the potential to occur because West Pasaman is a disaster-prone area, such as earthquakes, floods, and landslides,” he said.
He affirmed that the West Pasaman Regency Government continues to maintain intensive coordination with the central government through the Minister of Home Affairs as the Head of the National Task Force.
“We always maintain good coordination with the central government. Today we went down to the field together, accompanying the delegation to find the best solution,” he stated.
