National Prayer Event to be Held at Monas Tomorrow; Participant Regulations Announced
On 1 August, a National Dhikr and Prayer event will take’s place in the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta. Participants are urged to adhere to the established regulations.
According to the official Instagram account of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (@kemenag_ri), the guidelines include:
Wearing white clothing
Bringing practical prayer equipment
Avoiding excessive personal belongings
Not bringing infants or toddlers
Prohibiting sharp objects, firearms, firecrackers, and other dangerous items
Permitted actions include disposing of rubbish in designated bins, arriving early, keeping mobile phones on silent mode, following committee instructions, wearing polite attire, and looking after personal valuables.
Prohibited actions include littering, smoking within the event area, causing noise or disturbances, and pushing or crowding others.
The event area will open from 15:00 WIB via the North and South gates of Monas. Hundreds of toilets and ablution areas with approximately 1,000–1,500 taps will be available.
As part of the preparations for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has advised the public to avoid the Monas area. TMC Polda Metro Jaya reported that heavy traffic congestion is expected on roads surrounding the Monas area, advising drivers to seek alternative routes.
Police have also encouraged citizens attending the event to utilise public transport. The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, alongside joint task forces, will manage traffic flow situationally to support the event’s smooth running.
Muchlis M. Hanafi, Director of Islamic Religious Information at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, advised participants to arrive early to avoid crowds before the event begins. The Ministry expects around 100,000 participants to attend. The Secretary of the Ministry’s working team for the national dhikr and prayer stated that operational preparations are being coordinated closely with the State Secretariat, the Indonesian National Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and the Jakarta Provincial Government to ensure a safe, orderly, and solemn event.
