National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit Cracks Down on Drug Syndicate in Samarinda's Gang Langgar, Operating for Four Years with a Daily Turnover of IDR 200 Million

The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) through an operation has successfully uncovered a drug trafficking syndicate in Gang Langgar, Samarinda, East Kalimantan.

“The drug syndicate operating in the ‘kampung narkoba’ (drug village) of Gang Langgar, Samarinda City, was apprehended by a joint team from Subdit IV and the Narcotic Investigation Center (NIC) Task Force of Bareskrim Polri,” said the Director of Narcotics Criminal Investigations (Dirtipidnarkoba) of Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso in a statement to ANTARA in Jakarta on Saturday.

He stated that a total of 11 suspects were arrested during the operation. In addition, investigators seized several pieces of evidence related to narcotics.

Hadi also revealed that the drug syndicate had been operating for approximately four years.

“The daily turnover from drug sales is IDR 150-200 million,” he said.

Separately, the Head of Unit II of Subdit IV of Bareskrim Polri, AKBP Bayu Putra Samara, said that in addition to the 11 syndicate members, his team also arrested two drug users during the operation.

“This syndicate was quite elusive because several operations were carried out by local authorities, but they were unsuccessful,” he said.

Regarding the details of the case, he stated that further information would be provided by the Director of Narcotics Criminal Investigations of Bareskrim Polri.

The suspects have been taken to the Bareskrim Polri building in Jakarta for further investigation. (Ant)
