National Police Transfers and Promotes 1,121 Senior and Mid-Ranking Officers
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has carried out a rotation, mutation, and promotion of 1,121 high-ranking officers (Pati) and mid-ranking officers (Pamen). The mutations and rotations were enacted through seven Telegram Letters (ST) issued on 25 June 2026.
Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Polri Public Relations Division, stated that mutations are a normal part of the organisation’s career development and an effort to improve institutional performance. "Mutations and promotions are part of the organisational dynamics aimed at enhancing professionalism, leadership capacity, and the effectiveness of Polri’s duties in providing service, protection, and shelter to the public," Trunoyudo said in an official statement on Friday (26/6).
Of the 1,121 personnel transferred, 748 received promotions or equivalent lateral position changes. Strategic positions also saw replacements, including the Head of the Polri Research and Development Centre, which is now held by Brigadier General Didi Hayamansyah. Additionally, there were changes in two Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) positions: Brigadier General Ruddi Setiawan now serves as the Aceh Police Chief, and Brigadier General Yulius Audie Sonny Latuheru has been entrusted as the Southwest Papua Police Chief. The mutation also includes the replacement of three Deputy Regional Police Chiefs (Wakapolda) in Banten, Maluku, and Southwest Papua.
At the regional level, Polri promoted 190 officers to the position of Resort Police Chief (Kapolres). The policy also establishes one new City Police Precinct (Polresta) in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) area, four new Type D Resort Police stations, and upgrades the status of eight Type D Resort Police stations to Polresta. The four new Type D Resort Police stations are located in North Padang Lawas, Central Sumba, Konawe Islands, and Banggai Laut. The eight upgraded Polresta are in Karawang, Batang, Klaten, Tuban, Sumenep, Gowa, Banggai, and Central Lombok.
"The formation and upgrading of regional units is a strategic step to strengthen police services to the community, while adjusting organisational needs to regional developments and increasingly dynamic security and public order challenges," Trunoyudo stated. The mutation also provides wider opportunities for policewomen (Polwan), with 45 female officers receiving promotions, including 17 promoted to Kapolres level. "The increased role of policewomen in strategic positions demonstrates Polri’s commitment to developing professional, high-integrity, and competency-based human resources without gender discrimination," Trunoyudo said.
In addition to promotions and rotations, the mutation includes the inauguration of eight personnel, job placements for 68 graduates of leadership development education and the Police Science College (STIK) doctoral programme, and the dispatch of 37 personnel to attend development and management education programmes for the 2026 fiscal year. Trunoyudo emphasised that all mutation policies are based on organisational needs, a merit system, and continuous performance evaluation.
