The Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Corps (Korlantas) held a handover ceremony for the position of Kakorlantas from Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho to Inspector General Wibowo. In his address, Inspector General Agus expressed gratitude and pride at having been part of the Korlantas family. According to Inspector General Agus, the various achievements attained during his tenure were the result of cooperation, solidarity, and a sense of belonging continuously fostered within the corps. ‘I feel proud and happy; my family, especially my wife and children, have become part of the greater Korlantas family,’ he stated at the NTMC Polri grounds in Jakarta on Saturday. ‘There were certainly many things I did at Korlantas that were not yet optimal. But thanks to our togetherness, solidarity, and the sense of belonging we built, we were able to carve out many achievements together,’ he continued. During the occasion, Inspector General Agus also apologised to all personnel if any policies, directives, or actions during his leadership were deemed inappropriate. ‘I have undoubtedly said many things both on and off duty. If there were any policies, orders, or activities that made colleagues uncomfortable or offended, I offer my sincere apologies, including from my wife and children,’ he said. Although leaving the post of Kakorlantas, Inspector General Agus stressed that the leadership baton is not the end of service. He is optimistic that under Inspector General Wibowo’s leadership, Korlantas will continue to advance and carry on the various transformation programmes that have been initiated. ‘I entrust to Mr Bowo the Polantas Menyapa programme, Digital Korlantas, and Digital Transformation. Most importantly, let us change the face of the traffic police, making them closer to the community and accepted within society, in terms of attitude, behaviour, and the way we speak,’ he advised. Inspector General Agus called on all personnel to maintain solidarity and professionalism in serving the public. He also prayed that Korlantas would remain a dignified and respected institution, capable of making the best contribution to the National Police and the community. ‘I ask for your leave, I ask permission to depart from Korlantas, but not to part ways. In the leadership baton, there is truly service and dedication. Let us pray that Korlantas continues to progress and make positive contributions, especially in serving the community,’ he concluded. The handover ceremony ended with the traditional sword arch. Korlantas personnel lined up in two rows, and Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, accompanied by his wife, walked between the lines.
