National Police Traffic Corps Invites Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers to Become Traffic Safety Partners

The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri), Inspector General Wibowo, has invited the community of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers to become traffic safety partners and assist the police in conveying information regarding conditions on the road. According to him, the daily activities of ojol drivers, who are constantly on the road and interacting with the public, place them in a vital role to support traffic police duties. “These ojol drivers, besides being transport workers, are also the face of public service because they interact extensively with the community. Just like us, the traffic function is the most visible and frontline police service,” he said during a meeting at the NTMC Korlantas Polri on Tuesday.

Wibowo also encouraged drivers to utilise the 110 hotline to report any incidents requiring police attention. Information can also be relayed through the nearest police station. He expressed his hope that ojol drivers would become pioneers of safety, prioritising their own well-being, that of their passengers, and the goods they carry.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nusantara Ojol Association, Dianton, welcomed the synergy with the Traffic Corps. He noted that the association currently spans approximately 22 to 24 provinces with 2,477 registered members across Indonesia. “Our aspiration from the beginning has been to become ambassadors for traffic safety. Our colleagues in the field have already carried out many activities with direct impact, such as safety riding campaigns and first aid training,” he stated.
