National Police to Build 28 Food Security Warehouses to Optimise Crop Storage
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has announced that the National Police will have 28 food security warehouses spread across several regions of Indonesia. These storage facilities are intended to optimise crop yields.
Sigit conveyed this directly to President Prabowo Subianto during a mass corn harvest event, the groundbreaking ceremony for 10 National Police food security warehouses, and the launch of operations for 166 National Police Agricultural Support Centres (SPPG) in Tuban Regency, East Java.
“In line with the potential increase in crop yields, through cooperation with Perum Bulog, the National Police has built 18 storage warehouses on National Police land in 12 provinces,” Sigit said while delivering his report on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Sigit added that President Prabowo Subianto will also conduct a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 10 National Police food security warehouses today.
“Today, a simultaneous groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the construction of 10 food security warehouses, so that the total number of National Police food security warehouses will eventually reach 28 units,” Sigit said.
According to Sigit, each warehouse has a capacity of 1,000 tons, and one unit with a capacity of 10,000 tons, which will be completed in June 2026.
Sigit ensured that the construction of these warehouses is expected to increase storage capacity to maintain the stability of food supply in various regions, not only for corn but also for rice and other food commodities.
“The National Police is committed to continuing to support and realise a comprehensive corn agricultural ecosystem, from upstream to downstream, including land preparation, provision of seeds, planting, maintenance, and ensuring the absorption of harvests,” Sigit concluded.
