National Police Target Distribution of 10,000 Social Aid Packages for Anniversary
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) Headquarters is targeting the distribution of at least 10,000 social aid packages to communities across various regions as part of the institution’s 80th anniversary (HUT Bhayangkara) celebrations.
“For the programme from the National Police Headquarters alone, we have prepared and are distributing at least 10,000 social aid packages to the public. At the same time, regional police forces are also carrying out similar activities in their respective areas,” said the Head of the Social Aid Section for Polri Headquarters, Commissioner Dery Agung Wijaya, at the Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal in East Jakarta on Wednesday.
The programme is part of a series of social service events for the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary, aimed at helping the community while strengthening the relationship between the police and citizens. The activity at Kampung Rambutan Terminal marked the fifth location out of approximately 15 scheduled to receive aid from the National Police Headquarters.
During the event, Polri Headquarters distributed 750 social aid packages to people in need within the Kampung Rambutan Terminal area. The aid was given to various community groups, including public transport drivers, bus crews, traders, and previously registered local residents.
Commissioner Dery stated that the social aid programme, held ahead of the peak anniversary commemoration, reflects the police institution’s concern for the community’s condition. “It is hoped that this assistance can ease the people’s economic burden,” he said, adding that it also embodies the spirit of Polri being closer to the community.
The distribution targets were not focused on specific groups but rather on those genuinely in need. All recipients were identified through a data collection process and coordination with relevant parties to ensure the aid was delivered accurately.
Dery noted that the high level of public enthusiasm during the activity indicates that such social aid programmes are still greatly needed. To maintain order during the distribution, the police managed the process and coordinated with several parties.
He further explained that the target of 10,000 aid packages is specifically for the programme run directly by the National Police Headquarters. Simultaneously, regional police forces across Indonesia are conducting similar social activities, meaning the total number of beneficiaries is expected to increase significantly.
Meanwhile, the Head of Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal, Revi Zulkarnain, expressed appreciation for the police’s attention to the community working in the terminal area. He noted that the aid was very beneficial for informal sector workers who earn their living there daily.
“Today, 750 aid packages were given to people in need, such as public minivan drivers, traders, and bus crews. This assistance is very meaningful for them,” Revi said. He also expressed hope that the police’s social activities would not only take place during the institution’s anniversary but would continue as an ongoing form of care for the community.
