National Police Target 1,500 Nutrition Units by 2026 to Support Free Meals Programme

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has announced a target to build 1,500 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) by 2026 in support of the national Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. The announcement was made during the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration ceremony at the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) training centre in Cikeas, Bogor, on Wednesday.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that as of June, 1,415 SPPG units have been constructed. Of these, 828 units are already operational, 227 are in the operational stage, and 360 are still under construction, including 33 units located in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.

General Sigit explained that the operational units are projected to serve 3.5 million beneficiaries while absorbing 70,700 workers. To ensure the quality and safety of the meals, the police force has implemented rigorous food safety standards. The SPPG kitchens are equipped with supporting facilities such as stainless steel water tanks, reverse osmosis (RO) water filters, water heaters, and wastewater treatment systems (IPAL).

He emphasised that these measures are taken to consistently apply food safety principles in the food processing chain. ‘As a result, Alhamdulillah, the Polri SPPG has successfully maintained a record of zero accidents to date,’ General Sigit said. The police have also published a book titled ‘Rasa Bhayangkara Nusantara’, featuring 80 diverse menus to ensure variety and meet nutritional standards for the meals distributed.
