National Police Support Improved BPJS Healthcare Services for Workers
Tangerang Regency, Banten (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) have pledged support for improving healthcare services for Social Security Agency (BPJS) participants from the worker and labour community.
This was conveyed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo whilst attending the 53rd anniversary celebration of the All-Indonesia Workers' Union Confederation (KSPSI) at PT Victory Chingluh Indonesia in Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Monday.
"I have already issued instructions that fellow workers who receive BPJS services may use Polri-owned healthcare facilities across Indonesia," said Sigit.
He explained that support for improved healthcare services for BPJS patients from the labour community would be made available at all Polri-owned healthcare facilities throughout Indonesia.
He stated that this support represented Polri's commitment to backing government-administered health insurance programmes. "This is also a government programme that we are following up on," he said.
Sigit noted that all units under his command, particularly the Polri Medical and Health Centre (Pusdokkes), had been instructed to assist all BPJS participants from the worker and labour community in accessing healthcare services.
"Particularly in areas where services are needed by our trade union colleagues," he added.
The enhanced support for the BPJS programme is expected to facilitate access for all health insurance participants in fulfilling their rights effectively.
"I believe this is one form of our commitment to providing services in areas where we must deliver," he said.
Furthermore, the Police Chief stated that his institution would continue to oversee and provide assistance to trade union members in resolving labour issues, including workers' rights, working conditions, and support for improving human resource quality.
"We will continue to push forward and provide oversight, so that new employment opportunities can be created, whilst at the same time ensuring that workers' rights are championed to the fullest extent possible," he said.
During the event, Polri also participated in providing aid and healthcare services to trade union members in Tangerang Regency. The Police Chief, who also serves as Chairman of the KSPSI Advisory Board, personally distributed assistance to children and workers, including basic food packages and free health check-ups.
