National Police Statement on the Phenomenon of Malls Installing High Fences
The Indonesian National Police (Mabes Polri) has confirmed that the security and public order situation at various national economic centres is safe and under control. This statement was made by the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, in response to growing public attention on the reinforcement of security systems at several business areas, shopping centres, industrial zones, and national vital objects. One phenomenon that has drawn particular attention is the installation of fences at a number of malls.
Isir stressed that the National Police continues to implement preventive measures to ensure that public activities and the national economy run smoothly. "The National Police continues to carry out routine patrols, strengthen intelligence activities, conduct early detection, secure national vital objects, and perform cyber patrols," he said in a written statement on Monday (3/8). He noted that coordination with local governments, business operators, and all stakeholders is also continuously carried out to ensure the security situation remains conducive.
Isir added that these anticipatory measures are implemented in layers involving all regional units, from the National Police Headquarters down to provincial, district, and sub-district police levels. Security is focused on strategic areas that have a significant influence on public activities and national economic stability. In addition, the police are conducting real-time monitoring through various systems, including the Daily Operational Reporting System (DORS), which serves as a tool for monitoring the security and public order situation across all regions of Indonesia.
Isir confirmed that based on the available DORS data, the overall security situation is under control and no significant incidents have been identified that could potentially disrupt national security stability or economic activities. "There are no prominent incidents that impact national security stability. All personnel in the field are also carrying out maximum preventive measures," he said. He explained that the enhanced security measures implemented by several companies and business area managers are standard anticipatory steps to ensure worker safety, asset protection, and smooth business operations.
Therefore, he urged the public not to be easily influenced by unverified information, especially narratives that could cause unrest and concern within the community. "We ensure that any potential disturbance will be handled quickly, precisely, and professionally so that a conducive situation can be continuously maintained," he stated. "The public need not worry. The National Police will continue to work to maintain security and ensure all public activities proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly," he concluded.
