National Police Safeguard Food Prices Ahead of Eid, Ready to Take Firm Action if Anomalies Detected
The National Police (Polri) has provided full assurance regarding price stability and the availability of Essential Basic Materials (Bapokting) ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. Through its Food Task Force, Polri is conducting strict oversight from upstream to downstream to anticipate price stability and supply availability.
“Polri is committed to ensuring food availability across all regions. With the early warning system in place, we can monitor price stability in real time. If anomalies or distribution disruptions are detected, our personnel in the field will immediately take firm steps in coordination with relevant agencies,” said Deputy National Police Chief General Dedi Prasetyo during a press conference at the Bina Graha Building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Dedi stated that coordination with the Ministry of Trade has resulted in an early warning system regarding price fluctuations in major markets. Currently, national rice stocks reach 3.7 million tonnes, equivalent to 144 percent of national requirements, with distribution through the Cheap Food Movement programme implemented by the National Food Agency (Bapanas) across 38 provinces and 514 districts/municipalities.
Beyond rice, several other commodities including maize, consumption sugar, large chillies, and small chillies show increased production that has received positive responses from farmers. In relation to this, Presidential Chief of Staff Muhammad Qodari explained that the condition of national food security is currently at a very safe level.
“Our national rice stocks reach 3.7 million tonnes, far above normal requirements. Through the Cheap Food Movement across 514 districts/municipalities, the government guarantees that citizens can obtain essential commodities at affordable prices during Ramadan and the upcoming Eid,” he said.
