National Police prepare traffic management strategy for Eid holiday exodus 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Indonesia’s National Police (Polri) are preparing traffic management (traffic engineering) strategies during the exodus and return of Eid holiday 2026, or during the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 on 13-25 March 2026.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo assessed that traffic engineering remains effective for alleviating potential congestion from increased vehicle volumes during the Eid holiday exodus and return.
“Of course, traffic engineering strategies will continue to be implemented based on existing experience,” he said during a coordination meeting regarding preparations for Operation Ketupat 2026 at the STIK-PTIK Police Building in Jakarta on Monday.
He revealed the traffic engineering measures to be implemented, including one-way systems, contraflow, rest area management, and restrictions on three-axle vehicles.
“Public advisories and the suspension of traffic violations ticketing, delay systems in crossing areas, and traffic diversion are certainly measures we will implement,” he said.
Furthermore, the Bhayangkara Corps leader revealed that during last year’s Eid holiday exodus and return, approximately 137 trillion rupiah in money circulation occurred from the centre to the regions.
He expressed hope that this year will also experience growth to support community economic development.
“Of course, we hope that the security of Operation Ketupat 2026 can succeed maximally so that the multiplier effect for the regional economy will also have a significant impact,” he said.
